makes a 10 inch tube cake
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 (1 oz.) bottle red food coloring
3 cups cake flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
Cream Cheese Frosting
Combine butter, shortening and sugar; cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; stir in vanilla and food coloring.
Combine flour and salt; add to cream mixture alternately with milk, beating well. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan; bake at 325 degree about 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool cake completely and frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
