2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 sticks butter
1 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Sift flour, sugar, salt and cinnamon. Bring butter, water and cocoa to boil. Pour flour mixture. Mix eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour this into other mixture and stir well. Pour into a 9-by-13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until cake tests done. Leave cake in pan and top with the following icing.
Icing:
1 stick margarine
3 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
1 (1 pound) box confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
Put margarine, cocoa and milk in pan. Heat, but don't boil, until margarine melts and mixture is well-blended. Add sugar, pecans and vanilla. Frost cake immediately.
